CDF Routines CDF_ATTCREATE

This chapter details the interface routines for the Common Data Format. General notes about the interface are presented below, followed by individual descriptions of the routines. This version of IDL supports CDF V2.6.

CDF Version 2.6 Compatibility Warning

CDFs created with CDF V2.6 (the version currently used by IDL) take up less disk space than CDFs created with previous CDF distributions. The new version saves 1689 bytes per CDF file regardless of the file's contents, plus an additional savings of 128 bytes per variable. A side effect of this improvement is that V2.6 CDFs can only be read with the CDF V2.6 distribution. CDF V2.6 files are not readable by previous versions of CDF.
